Denim and Sequins...

J.Crew  (along with Anthropologie ) is one of those stores I wish was in Singapore or Australia.  A little bit pricey at times but pretty pieces and great instore merchandising.  Lovely stores to window shop in. I am loving the Spring 2011 J.Crew Collection.   My favourite looks are the denim + sequins (first pic on the left in the first set) and the yellow ruffly shorts and striped top in the third set.  cute!

Festival love...

I have been listening to Grooveshark all day at work in anticipation for Saturday -  Laneway festival is coming to town!  The Mr has kindly prepared a Laneway playlist featuring Temper Trap, Dearhunter, !!!, Yeasayer, The Foals, Ladyhawke, Holy F@#K, Beach House and Warpaint.  Get on Grooveshark if you haven't already... It's awesome to see some indie acts coming out to Singapore.  I am also excited about Rock and Roots in April - Bob Dylan, John Legend, Imogen Heap and Michael Franti!  Go Singapore!

Baking love...

I spent part of the weekend baking. I find there is just something so relaxing about it... maybe it is the sense of accomplishment by seeing (and eating) something tangible which results from all your hard work or perhaps bashing the hell out of some dough is simply good therapy? :) I tried 3 new recipes on the weekend, oatmeal and raisin cookies, parmesan bread and blueberry muffins .  The oatmeal and raisin cookies are definitely the pick of the lot.  Donna Hay you are pretty awesome.  I really need to start some food photography I think so I can share some photos with you all!

The Wilderness Downtown...

The Arcade Fire have been doing some cool things with their clips lately, first a Spike Jonze directed number and I recently discovered "The Wilderness Downtown" - an interactive clip to their song, We Used to Wait.   It's a beautiful little gem incorporating maps, technology and some cute little birdies. Hard to explain so just experience it here for yourself! (Best viewed when using Google Chrome as your browser)

Brooks and Floods...

I didn't feel quite right about blogging about fanciful things last week given all that was going on back home with the floods so took a bit of a break. There is still a lot of hard work to be done so please if you can, give to the QLD flood appeal .   It's been amazing to watch everyone rally together so I hope it keeps going... Thankfully everyone we know is safe but some of their homes are not.  In the meantime, some Brooks leather goods to distract you a little this morning... these are so pretty!

Bench love...

The Mr and I have been searching for a bench for our dining table for about 6 months now.  We saw a really beautiful American walnut one (but a little bit pricey in my book) a while ago.  Me being my frugal self vetoed any purchasing decisions. Anyhow, we walked into the store on Saturday and it was 35% off and there was only one left in the warehouse... So I finally caved.  This pretty little purchase (below on the left) is being delivered to our place this week! The Mr is now trying to convince me we need a new iMac :)

Karen Walker...

All this rainy weather is depressing and sad.. here's to lots of sunny happy colours, pleated skirts, bright florals, shorty shorts and bows for summer! Karen Walker Spring/Summer 2011.

welcome 2011...

2010, what can I say, it was filled with so many extreme highs and lows. It started with an engagement, then tremendous unexplainable all consuming loss and finished with the most amazing wedding day.  Earlier this year, I posted about my Chinese horoscope for the year.  "....so for the most part, the year is expected to be unspectacular or status quo..."   Haha It seems that didn't quite come true...so here's hoping 2011 is good to us all! xoxo
