Rose Byrne x Oroton

Oroton , the classic luxury Australian fashion label has announced  Rose Byrne  as the new face of their label. I love her and her style and even remember watching her in the early days on Aussie soap, Echo Point  during my high school days.  Watch the behind the scenes video of the Oroton shoot here .

Inspired by: Louvelle Luxury Showerwear

Seraphine headwear I love reading and hearing about women doing daring and inspiring things in the business world and today is no different. One of my amazing friends has today launched her own business, Louvelle . Dahlia in Aqua Stripe Amelie in Botanical Simone is a busy mum and was bemoaning about ugly shower caps so she decided to do something about it. The result is gorgeous and chic showerwear inspired by the pages of fashion magazines.  Quick and easy to put on like any regular shower cap but just way prettier (I also think you can wear these out as a hair accessory on bad hair days!).  I can't wait to order mine and in fact was only just saying to the Mr on the weekend that I need a new cap and couldn't wait for Sim to launch so I could order one. Currently there are two designs, Amelie and Dahlia (that are offered in a range of prints).  Sim has also designed headbands  that will be great for exercise or your beauty routine. Currently only...

73 Questions and Preserve with Blake Lively

I know there are some haters out there but I like Blake Lively .  She just seems nice, cool and someone you could be friends with.  I don't know if it was scripted or rehearsed beforehand but I liked her even more after seeing the latest 73 Questions video from Vogue.  Watch it here . As a follow up from my recent  post , Blake has also recently launched her own lifestyle site,  Preserve .   Part blog and part online shop it will highlight and curate (everything seems 'curated' these days!) American artisans, stories and products.   I haven't had a chance to have a proper look yet so my verdict is still out.

Of pinning and pretty things...

After lots of talk about a friend's Pinterest board at a dinner out last week, I realised I hadn't pinned in ages and decided to revisit my Pinterest page tonight.  I had forgotten how much I enjoy finding lots of pretty things that inspire me - whether it is food, fashion or design.   My new year's resolution is to make more time for exercise and holidays but I think I will extend it to just making more 'me' time.   Even if it is just an odd spot of pinning here and there.   Working full time and juggling family and life in general has me feeling awfully busy at times so I need to remember to take a step back and take some time out every now and then.  This is what I found to inspire me this evening...  A gorgeous romper for the little lady:    The perfect cheese board for our next dinner party / "wine and youtube" night:  Pretty blue vignette featuring the bubby's favourite fruit: This cape! Bauble Bar

I have been seeing a lot of Bauble Bar hashtags on instagram lately so I was intrigued and decided to check them out. Their concept is simple.  An online store for affordable and on trend fashion jewellery. They have some gorgeous things! I spent a fair bit of time browsing their site tonight but what definitely caught my eye was their embellished tortoise shell collection. I love the contrast - a wonderful pairing of vintage inspired sparkly gems and the classic tortoise shell. Now to decide on which pieces...

Handbag Debuts

I am not one who would normally go out and spend lots of money on a designer handbag (I am quite fickle, my tastes change and I get bored) but I was very excited to read about some recent handbag debuts. 1. Mulberry Willow Tote  Debuting at Fashion Week, this bag is big enough to carry your life around with you and with a detachable large envelope clutch - it would be a perfect bag for office or weekend.  2. Narciso Rodriguez Bowler Tote Narciso Rodriguez is known for his minimalism and structured lines so this gorgeous structured doctor's bag is no different.  I LOVE the shape and the contrast of the black zips and hardware.  3. Celine Spring 2013 Celine rarely does wrong with their bags.  I particularly love the contrasting textures of this one from their Spring 2013 collection.   all images via purseblog Hmm.. judging by the above, I am sensing quite a trend here - maybe time for a new handbag? ;)

Kindle love...

The Mr bought me a Kindle Touch that arrived the other day.  exciting! I was pretty averse to this notion to begin with.  I LOVE proper books - the paper, the smell, the pretty book covers - I don't think I will ever stop buying real books.  However, I do see the benefits in e-readers (especially for holidays, travel and a nice alternative to lugging heavy books in your handbag!).  Pretty amazing how lightweight these things are. Now, importantly, I need to find a pretty cover to protect my kindle.  The ones available on Amazon are kinda ugly and B.O.R.I.N.G I have spied a couple on Etsy  that I don't mind the the look of - which do you think? Leather + Felt polka dots herringbone chevron - i haven't decided if the clutch style is naff or not.  I think it might be naff...  felt   leather I think the last two are my faves so far!  search continues...

return of the flower..

It's awesome finding stuff in the back of your wardrobe that you haven't worn in ages - it's like shopping in your closet.  Today I pulled out some olive green pants that I haven't worn in forever and teamed it with a plain black top.  I was just needing a little something something to brighten it up.  So I pulled out the big flower brooch my big sister bought me to wear with my bridesmaid's dress at her wedding a couple of years ago and put it on ala Carrie Bradshaw (circa season 3 of Sex and the City).  I googled and that season was originally shown in 2000 - 11 years ago!  I really like it - I reckon we should bring the big flower back! cup day...

It's Melbourne Cup day today in Australia.  Being in Singapore, today I am missing the work Melbourne Cup lunches, sweepstakes, having the afternoon off, my mum who used to always win and come home with a meat tray and of course all the pretty hats and fascinators. Frocking up and going to the races is quite a big deal in Oz.  I haven't really seen it replicated to the same degree at the races in Hong Kong and Singapore where it is kept pretty casual.  If I were going to the races today, I would look to Alannah Hill for some gorgeous inspiration - florals, brights, bows, polka dots, cute little hats.

a fine fedora...

Not enough people wear hats... I think we need to embrace the hat more often - sun protection + a life saver for a bad hair day!   via  Pinterest

bad hair day...

A bad hair day for me often means hiding my hair under my favourite fedora hat, but I think I really need to embrace the headscarf this summer... [..]

brights...

A good friend of mine just got back from a recent French jaunt with the most beautiful buttery soft green oversized clutch.  I think I am a little inspired! impatient...

Long time blog readers will know that one of my favourite brands is  Kate Spade . I love their brand identity and their products which capture everything playful, quirky and colourful in the world filled with lots of brights and bows. However like all designer items for me, they are usually lusted after rather than purchased due to my frugal spending habits (of generally not wanting to spend more than $100 on any one item of clothing/bag/shoes).  I am however really lucky to currently own 2 Kate Spade items.  A large oversized clutch that was ridiculously reduced at a sale in Hong Kong and a little clutch given to me as a birthday present a few years back from two very dear friends.  I have always had my eye on a Kate Spade bag though... So I when I spied on twitter the other night that they are having an online sample sale (up to 75% off!), I quickly trotted on over to have a look... After some umming and aaahing (and some gentle prodding from the M...
