no diggity...

Last night we revelled at 90's RnB night at Blu Jaz - awesome night with good friends and lots of boogie.   Lots of old school tunes that brought me back to my high school days and school dances... especially this one - I freaking love this song!  guaranteed to cheer up your Sunday :)

office life...

Thursday morning and I am happily distracted by the amazing Bon Iver album (live stream it here courtesy of those lovely folks from the Guardian), a cup of green tea and Laduree macarons that were very kindly gifted to me.   Not too bad for a Thursday morning in the office :)

camilla...

I just finished watching Prada to Nada (hilarious, sweet, brainless teen-type flick that I loved...) which featured the lovely Camilla Belle - she is one stunning lady.

first dates...

A very very good friend of mine had an epic first date last night.

It sounded like one of those dates that you will always remember, where you meet this person and have this amazing connection with them, where the hours just seem to pass you by without you even realising - full of good conversation, good wine, little looks and glances and flirty smiles...

One of those times that regardless of what happens in the future, you know that you will always remember and have this amazing first date xx

babylon....

Spending Thursday morning listening to David Gray's album,White Ladder.  It's about 15 years old but is still one of my all time favourite albums.

It's funny how certain songs can bring you straight back to certain times and places.  For me this album brings back lots of great memories of overseas travels, hanging out at the Bung with the Byrnes, going to David's epic gig at Festival Hall with my twin,YT... good times!

If you want it, come and get it, crying out loud,
The love that I was, giving you was, never in doubt
Let go of your heart
Let go of your head
And feel it now

hk whimsy...

                                                                                           via Phuong on Pinterest

I spent the past week in Hong Kong for work + play (hence the lack of blog action).  It is a place I called home for 2 years and it had been about a year since my last visit... I didn't realise how much I missed it!

For those that have not been, Hong Kong is just one of those cities with an indescribable buzz about it - such a great energy.  It's busy, intense and filled with lots of great food, lovely people and some awesome shopping.  For me, it is also filled with some wonderful wonderful friends and memories.   I certainly do have a love affair with this city.  The week was loads of fun so thought I would jot down what I got up to and also put down some tips for those who are ever visiting.  First post is on HK shopping...

I visited my favourite shoe shop, Vickie Shoes on Queen Victoria Street in one of my lunch hours last week (it is also conveniently located next to my HK office). I used to pop in there all the time and the lovely staff still remember me!  I picked up 3 pairs of shoes - some sky high nude patent platform pumps, nude snakeskin peeptoes and some green suede ruffled flat sandals.  They can customise and make it for you if they don't have your size in stock which they will then happily post to you.  Takes about 6 weeks for it to come through.  Highly recommended when you visit.

Our good friends live in Wanchai so we spent a lovely Sunday afternoon browsing the cute little boutiques on Queen's Road East including Lipstick, Dolly Lu Lu and this great little store opposite the HK Jockey Club which I can't remember the name of!  Just take a walk around and I'm sure you will discover some great little finds.  Also head up to the Star Street/St Francis Yard area where you can drop into the Monocle store, the very cute and quirky Kapok for one off finds for him, her and home.  Next to Kapok home is the little treasure, chen mi ji for antiques and retro post war furniture.

I also spent one night last week browsing through Soho and visited my favourite little hole in the wall boutique, Buttonhole where you can find factory 'seconds'.  Other stores and outlets similar to Buttonhole can be found in the Pedder Building (which is also where I happened to find my wedding dress!).  For the crafty readers, you must check out Chocolate Rain which is very cute.  For the boys, make sure you visit Moustache for unique and quality tailoring and all round funky stuff.

For those that love outlets, go to Horizon Plaza at Ap Lei Chau for amongst others, the Lane Crawford and Club Monaco outlets.  Nearby is also a Prada outlet.  CityGate at Tung Chung is also great for outlet shopping.  No time for me to go outlet shopping last week so I will have to head there for my next visit...

Next post will be on food in HK and I think that will be a very looong post! :)
